“To enable individuals to make informed choices about their life-style”.

 

This group is suitable for people who are at the maintenance phase on the cycle of change. The aim of this group is to provide support, to learn new behaviours, to change old, unsafe behaviours and to enhance self-awareness and therefore the possibility of change.

This is achieved by focusing on nine separate but interconnected modules.

•  Relapse prevention -
Looking at triggers, cues and high-risk situations.
Personal coping strategies.
How to keep ourselves safe.
•  Self-esteem -
What is it?   How is it sustained?
How can we change it? Where does it come from?
•  Anger management -
The effects of anger – physiological, emotional and psychological.
How anger has been managed and why.
Other ways of dealing with anger.
Looking at our main triggers and understanding them.
•  How to keep ourselves safe -                                                                                      
Replacing unsafe behaviours with safe coping skills.
Self-nurturing and how to look after our own needs.
Nutritional advice, how to re-establish sleep patterns,
•  How to be more assertive -
The difference between behaviour which is aggressive, passive and assertive.
