“Some happy tone of meditation,

slipping in between the beauty coming

and the beauty gone, most sweet it is.”

Wednesdays

7. 00 – 7.40 Relaxation:

This session sometimes include some visualisation. It usually consists of a guided body scan. This helps people to relax their mind and body. It can be the beginning of a process of learning how to become more aware the body and the breath and to let go of habitual ways of holding and thinking.

8.00 – 9.50 Buddhist Meditation:

We start at 8pm by bowing towards the shrine then doing a 40 minute mediation. This style of meditation initially emphasises an awareness of the body and the breath. This ultimately leads on to learning how to sit in "pure awareness" similar to the Dzogchen teachings of Tibetan Buddhism or Zen which is a practice that can be incorporated into everyday life. Please aim to come at 7.40 if you need meditation instruction. Otherwise there will be plenty of time to talk about the practice after the meditation. Every evening we look at and discus some aspect of practice often aided by listening to a short recording of the Buddhist teacher David Smith (see dharmamind.net) and usually finish up with chanting the Heart Sutra and Bodhisattva vows. There is a suggested donation of three pounds.
